How we Serve

UMCF serves children and families across Ohio through a unified commitment to safety, healing, and stability. With decades of experience and a strong foundation in community-based care, we are recognized leaders in foster care, adoption, independent living, outpatient mental health treatment, and more.

We work collaboratively to ensure children and families receive the personalized, trauma-informed support they need to thrive in safe, healthy environments.

Our Core Programs

Treatment Foster Care

We license homes through our Treatment Foster Care Program, guided by the belief that children thrive in safe, structured, and least restrictive environments. Our foster homes meet each child’s physical, emotional, and educational needs. A dedicated multi-disciplinary team uses evidence-based practices to support healing and positive behavioral change.

Psychiatry

At UMCF, our psychiatry team is much more than a medication provider for your child or adolescent. We believe in treating the whole child, considering every aspect of their health, history, and environment to ensure the most appropriate and effective care.

Our team looks beyond symptoms to understand the many factors that may influence a child’s well-being.

Together, we create a personalized care plan that supports the child’s unique needs. We view this as a collaborative process, recognizing that caregivers are the first and most important experts in their child’s life.

Care Coordination Program through OhioRISE

The OhioRISE (Reinvestment and Support for Children with Complex Needs) program provides enhanced care coordination services for youth who have complex behavioral health needs, including those involved in multiple child-serving systems. UMCF collaborates with OhioRISE to deliver wraparound services that focus on holistic care, ensuring that children and their families have the support they need across the areas of mental health, education, healthcare, and social services.

Through OhioRISE, families benefit from comprehensive care coordination, collaboration among service providers, child and family-centered services, and community-based support. The program ensures that all service providers work together to meet the child’s needs, reducing fragmentation and promoting long-term success.

Independent Living

We support youth transitioning to adulthood through our Independent Living Program, operating in Dayton, Springfield and Cincinnati. As one of the first programs of its kind in Ohio, it provides scattered-site housing and comprehensive support in education, employment, and mental wellness, helping young adults aging out of foster care gain independence and long-term stability.
